I still can’t believe how awful people treat Value staff. My team (me included) have been yelled at, threatened, accused of stealing items from customers, called awful, awful names (including and not limited to different variations of the stupid), spat on, and several other things.
I am not even kidding when I tell work stories. At all. Today was sale day, and that includes 50% off CLOTHING SHOES ITEMS TAGGED BED AND BATH AND ACCESSORIES. It did not include housewares, media, jewelry, furniture items or red tag items (New halloween merch, christmas merch etc.) WELL. A customer brought up a cart FULL of housewares. I tell her they aren’t on sale and she starts screaming at me calling me a dumb little whore, so three of my managers and the store owner comes over and tries to explain to the lady the exclusions of the sale and that still does not calm her down and she refuses to leave until we give her the discount on the items, claiming we do not advertise exclusions….There are signs literally everywhere saying what is on sale and what is not. We have VV balloons tied to the end of every aisle that is included in the sale. We make announcements every fifteen minutes…like come on! The lady ended up getting frustrated and throwing a bunch of stuff at me (A candle holder and hangers mostly) but still…Like you don’t do that shit….ugh.
Working in retail has honestly made me hate people.
